POLYMAT has been accredited as María de Maeztu unit of excellence!

This is a prestigious accreditation that is obtained in a call open to all research centers in Spain.

The application was led by Prof. David Mecerreyes and the other senior researchers involved were Prof. Alejandro J. Müller, Prof. Aurelio Mateo-Alonso, Prof. María Paulis, Prof. Haritz Sardon, Prof. Marcelo Calderón and Prof. Juan Luis Delgado.

This achievement has only been possible due to the commitment and fantastic work of all the members of POLYMAT, because all aspects of our activity were evaluated. We are really proud of all the work of our whole team!

The transition towards a circular polymer economy is increasingly encouraged by the global concerns on the emission of greenhouse gasses and depletion of resources related with the polymer industry and the environmental impact of the mismanagement of plastic wastes.

Want to know the latest breakthroughs on the topic? Then join us for this two-day seminar on the future of plastics, for transforming the polymer industry from a damaging linear production of plastics to a virtuous circular economy.

With the participation of:

📎 DAY 1 / Renewable resources for more circular plastics

Karolien Vanbroekhoven

Sylvain Caillol

Luis Cabedo Mas

Philip Scholten

📎 DAY 2 / Circularity in Light-Mediated Additive Manufacturing

Timothy Long

Joe DeSimone

Haritz Sardon

Eva Blasco

Additional details and participation fees are available at haritzsardonlab.com.

The event was imagined inside NATURE-EID and POLINA projects and organized by UPV/EHU-POLYMAT and Polykey with the support of the European Union.

European Polymer Journal: Depolymerization and Polymer Degradation

European Polymer Journal: Depolymerization and Polymer Degradation

European Polymer Journal is publishing the special issue Depolymerization and Polymer Degradation: Redefining the Future of Plastics. It involves contributions to the advancement of sustainable practices in harmony with the pressing global imperative for responsible material management.

With guest editors Haritz Sardon, Cyrille Boyer and Krzysztof Matyjaszewski, the issue aim to collect the latest techniques and technologies designed to revolutionize the lifecycle of polymers. In fact, as our reliance on polymers continues to grow, addressing the environmental impact of these materials becomes paramount. Depolymerization and polymer degradation represent promising approaches toward mitigating the ecological footprint of plastic waste.
