Our PhD students Irati Celada, Ander Leiza Balda and Jon Larrañaga participated in the 7th Congreso MZT in Pamplona, on 1st and 2nd of July 2026.
Together with bringing together academic researchers and experts who promote progress in the field of materials science and technology, one of the main objective of this event is to highlight the strength and capacity of the Basque language in the technological field. All lectures and Q&A sessions are in Basque, with also the main contact language being Basque. In addition, the Materials Science and Technology Commission (CTM) and UZEI will jointly analyze the vocabulary proposed at the congress, which will be reflected both in the dictionary MZT hiztegi tekniko and in euskalterm.

Congratulations to Ane Olazabal Abarrategui on successfully defending her PhD thesis!
We are proud of the work she has carried out during these years, contributing to the development of scalable bio-based polyethers for a more sustainable polyurethane industry at Polykey, under the guidance of supervisors Coralie Jehanno and Haritz Sardon Muguruza.

Prof. Haritz Sardon and Dr. Xabi Lopez de Pariza recently participated in the Elsevier event, the Eighth International Symposium Frontiers in Polymer Science, held in Chengdu, China, from 11 to 14 June 2026.
We are delighted to announce that both researchers received prestigious recognition for their outstanding contributions. Prof. Sardon was awarded for his invited lecture, From Recycling Legacy Plastics to Designing Functional Plastics with Circularity, presented on Friday, 12 June. Dr. Lopez de Priza received the Best Poster Award for his presentation entitled Standardizing Light: A Modular Photoreactor for Controlled, Reproducible and High-Throughput Photochemical Reactions.
Congratulations to both on these well-deserved achievements, and we wish them continued success in their research endeavors!

We were so proud to take part at the third edition of Bordeaux Polymer Conference (BPC 2026), from June 1-4, 2026 in Bordeaux!
The conference, with 500 participants, covered all topics in polymer science, including macromolecular/supramolecular engineering, sustainable/renewable polymers, self-assembly and interactions of polymers in life sciences and electronics. We are proud to have hosted in the University of the Basque Country the 6th Polyanalysis FORUM by Tosoh Bioscience!
A free symposium on polymer analysis emphasizing sustainable methods and materials, as well as biomedical applications. Hosted in Donostia-San Sebastian, Spain in collaboration with Prof. Haritz Sardon’s group. This free event offered a full day of inspiring presentations and the latest scientific updates from experts in academia, industry, and Tosoh.
Our international panel of renowned researchers covered various aspects of polymer design and characterization. PhD students and postdocs presented their research in a flash presentation within this distinguished panel. A final roundtable facilitated scientific discussions and collaborations.
